Subject: Yellow Nails
Message: My problem is not really yellow nails, as it is yellow nail polish. I have been wearing a french manicure for years now. The last 6 weeks, within 24 hours of a new manicure, the polish turn yellow. I have not changed the products I am using. At first I thought it might be the liquid hand soap I was using, so I stopped using it. But this did not help. I am at a loss as to what is causing this. I can't pinpoint anything I am doing that is different. I do not have false nails of any type. My own nails with polish only. Can anyone help?
Thanks...

Message: Are you around UV lights? Tanning beds and such (like UV nail dryers) will make clear polish yellow. If you are using any of these, switch to something with a UV inhibitor in it.
Then there's the "nitro cellulose" deal. That chemical in clear coats and polishes will yellow too. Look into those factors and keep me posted.

Message: Thanks for the input. I am not around UV lights so I will check out the nitro cellulose. I bought a product to block yellow nail polish but it hasn't seemed to work.
Thanks again,
Nancy

Message: Hi! Has anyone had any success with the UV lights and the gel used with it? I'm considering this as an alternative to acrylics, but don't seem to be able to find much information on the subject. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks, and God Bless!! Monica

Message: over the last 8 months my nails have being getting worse. at first they only went yellow when i went outside and i thought it had somthing to do with the temp. then i noticed that when i come home from work they turn clear again until the morning when i leave the house, it would take aaround two hours for them to get dark yellow. i thought then that it might be to do with stress because in the evening they went back clear. i had all the blood tests done all were clear. then the hospital said that i did not have the symtems that go with yellow nail syndrome, so they have now forwarded me to a nail specialist. i am healthy and have never worn dark colours. the nails are always long and very strong. does anyone know of any cure for this or a reason? the yellow only appears on the tip of the nail, the white part. please help me.

Message: i bite my nails and on the occassion i let them grow they start off see-through then may discolour and go yellow. Sometimes they get the whites like they're meant too. They go especially clear after a bath. I assumed they were weak and porous and thought it was because i bit them. Please post if there is another reason!
