I have a question about my nails. They are growing healthy and are actually longer than they ever have been before. :)
However...that "white spot" that's directly above the cuticle that's supposed to be there is missing. I don't know what the actual "name" for that whitened area is - my mom used to always say that if I took good care of my cuticles, that "a hill would grow and a moon would rise" - lol Sounds silly, but I always used to have that. I take care of my cuticles - they are always neat and tidy, but that "white hill" has disappeared. My kids all have it - hubby too - in fact I've been noticing it on everyone. Mine have no color at all - what could be causing this?
Hope this wasn't too long - just hard to explain. Thank you in advance :)

lol, that's the halfmoon area, some have it large, others small, others don't. That's nothing to worry about it at all.

Wendy's right... I see hands all day, everyday, and everyone is different.
I used to have "moons" (lanula) on every finger too, but now just the ones on my thumbs show through.
The lanula is actually the matrix (root) of the nail shining through the nail plate.
But your mom is right about one thing... massaging the cuticle area WILL help your nails grow. When you massage the area (like with cuticle oil) you're increasing the blood flow to the area, the blood feeds the matrix and the nail grows--that too is the only "breathing" your nails do... polish, or enhancements don't smother them as a lot of people say--they don't have lungs to breathe any other way.

My cuticles are dry and cracked all the time. Is there something I can do about that. I constantly have to trim them. That isn't the right way to handle that problem is it? I would have nice nails if it wasn't for my horrible cuticles. Please Help!
