I have been bitting my nails forever, and I really want to stop. I have hang nails and my nails are always hurting. The only time I don't bite them is when I have fake nails on, but that's not an option anymore because of cheerleading. Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop nail bitting?

Well Stephanie, as ironic as this is I had the exact same problem. I had this horrible habit of biting my nails and I put on fake nails, which seemed to work-until of course cheerleading tryouts(more ironic). Once I had made the team I had to take off the fake nails, and well back came the bad habit. But what I found worked for me was chewing TONS gum insted of nails, and also wearing clear nail polish.----Stephanie(still more ironic)

I am almost thirty and used to bite my nails
constantly. I recently discovered a mult-use
product, one of the uses was a nail soak.
Well, they have not marketed the product as a
"cure" for nail biting, which is what I am
looking to do. I stopped biting my nails after
two treatments, and have not bitten them
since. (over 6 mos) A friend of mine tried it,
after one treatment, no longer bites her nails
(going on a few weeks) The product is a fruit
extract, and all you do is soak your hands in a
dilute soln for 15 minutes. Its cost is pennies
per treatment. I need some volunteers to try it
to see if it works or if its just me. Are you
willing?

I have been biting my nails for as long as I can remember. I am now 25 years old and have a baby girl. I think I am way to old for this BAD habit and I don't want my daughter to start this up too. I have had fake nails in the past and they do work great for me. I don't pick at them or break them. But I don't like the continueing cost, up keep, and they just aren't healthy for my nails(neither is biting them). I will try any thing once......please help me! Dana

Hi, I was reading your messages about "bitting nails" I also have the same worry because my 10 year old bites his nails all day long I've try nail polish with garlic he really wants to stoop because is becoming embarrasing for him to show his fingers, please I need help!!

i have a friend who bought some orly no bite finger nail polish, i used it at school and have not bit my nails in like 3wks now i keep them painted so i want bite them. now they are taking forever to grow does anyone have some tips to make nails grow fast!!! thanks

Man, I feel your pain! I can't stand my habbit of biting my nails! I went for about 2 wks not bitting them, I even gave myself a really nice manicure, but then, when I was waiting for my comp. to load up, I took my eye off teeth, AND MY NAILS WERE GONE!!!! :-( hey Robin, were do you get that no nail biting polish? I really wanna try it! I mean, all my life I have been bitting my nails, and i would do anything to stop!
