Message: the crumbling part sounds like a fungus to me. topical remedies only go so far-never really killing the fungus. sounds like a MD problem to me.

Message: OK. I will try to make a long story short..er. About ten years ago I went to the doctor with an inflamed toe. I thought I had an ingrown toe nail. He told me I had fungus and had probably had it for years. (No other information...like where did I get it.) He told me to soak it twice a day for 20 minutes to get rid of the inflammation, which it did, but does nothing for the fungus. He told me the medication is very expensive and has to be used long term, with no guarantee it will work. I know part of the cause was working for 80 hours a week, wearing nylons and dress shoes. I have changed that! No more 80 hours of work for me. Then I researched over the internet. The only real change I made is to quit eating bread (except for yummy hot rolls when out to eat), I eat a lot of 1% cottage cheese (it is supposed to be an excellent food for fungus) and I use oregano oil topically twice a day. I know there are other things (like sugar) that you can eliminate, and other foods good to eat. But this is the major change I made. And I do believe I am finally seeing a huge change. My nails don't crumble any more, the thickness is gone, and they are starting to get a pinkish hue. Hope some of this will be helpful to others with the problem. When sandal time comes is when you feel the most distress about it!

Message: my toes & Dorothy,
a fungus is very difficult to get rid of. think about how many people suffer from athletes foot year after year. doing it on your own is nothing but wasting money. most cases do require a doctors help. first test a doctor needs to do is determine whether it's a fungus or a bacterial infection. they are treated two completely different ways, and one doesn't work for the other. the natural nails growth formula will help grow strong, healthy nails, but it will not kill a fungus or get rid of bacterial infections. get help for that, then give it a try.

Message: Yes...a doctor should determine the problem, as mine did. Yes, fungus is very difficult to get rid of. Mine was diagnosed 10 years ago! Fungus can be an internal condition also, and it is said that all can suffer from it in various degrees. Changing my diet didn't really cost me anything....saved me some as I quit buying bread and lost weight! Cottage cheese is nutritional and we have to buy food. Eliminating sugar is another biggy. No harm there. The only extra expense is the oregano oil (a natural product), not a high buck item, and it is working for me. If a doctor prescribes something, the diet still might make a difference. I have a friend that has doctored for YEARS without satisfactory results and huge bills. All I wanted to do was pass on what has helped me, but I in no way am suggesting it is the only way to go. Just somthing to try with no harm done.

Message: yes, i do agree, eliminating certain foods will make you feel better in the long run. so many doctors out there and right here in my town just prescribe medicines when they're just guessing at the diagnosis half the time. so many people will go spend way too much money on creams and potions when it needs to be taken care of a lot quicker. we appreciate your passing on what has worked for you. our medical professionals need to get a lot better at old fashioned diagnostic skills. if you had the fungal infection for 10 years then that was just way too long to suffer with it. i tend to get a little disgruntled at the amount of wasted money a majority of us spend on promises that don't work.

Message: I wasn't going to post any more on this subject, but decided I should clarify that although the doctor diagnosed the fungus ten or more years ago, he did not recommend the medication and literally let me leave the office with no solution. I was unfamiliar with such a thing but determined on my own to change what I wore on my feet...but that is all I did for years, thinking that would help it go away. I started watching what I ate and using the oregano oil about 6 or 7 months ago. The nail is now growing out looking healthy. From what I read, fungus thrives on white flour and sugar. And I love bread and chocolate! I thought you should know I have not deprived myself of those things for ten years, for heaven's sake! That would be outstanding willpower! :)

Message: i am a chocolate lover myself! i'm glad your nail is looking healthy. a fungus is not an easy thing to get rid of, because they do tend to be stubborn.
